Equality/Diversity

Seán Ruth has been working in the area of equality/diversity since 1981 as an educator, trainer and consultant. He is a member of the Equality Authority’s panel of Equality Auditors.

Bullying, Harassment & Sexual Harassment
This training is available for both staff and management. It involves both awareness training about the legal and policy requirements on organisations and the practical steps for dealing with complaints of bullying, harassment or sexual harassment. Programmes vary in length from a half day to two days, depending on client needs.

Training of Designated Contact Persons (Support Persons)
Participants are trained in how to play a support role as part of the procedure for dealing with complaints of bullying, harassment or sexual harassment. The focus is on understanding the legal and policy requirements along with the particular listening and other skills that make for an effective Contact Person.

Training of Complaint Investigators
Participants are trained in how to formally investigate complaints of bullying, harassment and sexual harassment. They receive a thorough grounding in the legal and procedural requirements of proper investigations along with the practical skills of interviewing, investigating and reporting on complaints.

Training for Equality Action Teams or Committees
Participants are giving a thorough grounding in the law on equality along with an overview of best practice in approaches to equality and diversity. The role of equality committees is explored and guidelines for effective team working are provided. The content of the training is adjusted to take account of both the needs and the experience of the participants.
